The scouts through bag packing over the last few years have raised scout funds and it only seems fair that the scouts get the benefit.

It looks like we will have 4 adults on the trip, Colin/Iain/Shirley T/Kerry.

We can have a parents meeting for those attending within the next 3 weeks. Please let me know if there is a night that will not suit you for a meeting. Please confirm if you agree your son can attend by completing the form below and return by next Monday 23rd Nov latest.

I confirm can attend the above and I shall pay the £200, prior to 7th February 2010.

Armistice Parade

This year's Armistice Parade will take place on Suday 8th November. Our short serice of Remembrance will be conducted in the Scout Hall, Loans. we should all gather there at 10:15 am for the service starting at 10:30am. The collection, as usual, will be sent to the earl Haig Fund.
Cubs and Scouts will, thereafter, march to the Memorial at the Village Cross to lay our wreath at 10.))am, with Beavers and parents walking along to join us there. We normally have an excellent turnout for this event and would hope to see you all again this year.

Many Thanks,
Colin Dair

September Newsletter (Cubs)

Welcome Back
Welcome back to a new session of Cubs, we hope you had an enjoyable summer despite the weather! We have 4 Beavers move up to Cubs and one new Cub. Five Cubs are in the process of moving on to Scouts; therefore our numbers remain static at 18.

Subs
The first payment of £20 is now due. At the AGM it was agreed that yearly subs would remain at £60 (a weekly cost of less than £2)

District Hike
The district have organised a Cub Hike Day on Sunday 13th September, at Straiton. It starts at 1030-1630 and we will be based at the McCandlish Hall in the village, this gives us a base in case of wet weather also toilets are available. Parents are welcome to join in if they wish. There will be an event badge produced for the occasion (cost covered by the group)... it will be a few weeks afterwards that it is given to those attending. If your son would like to attend without a parent David or I may be able to offer lifts. Please return the tear off strip and return by next week if you plan on attending.

Uniforms
Uniforms (sweatshirt and neckie) can be bought in the schoolwear shop in Troon. If anyone has any difficulty sourcing these please let us know and we can arrange to get them from the Scout shop in Glasgow.

Helpers
A big thank you to Dermot who has kindly agreed to continue as helper, despite his son moving on to Scouts. Two Explorers and a Scout will also be helping out (Stewart, Richard, and Calum)

Some final points:
  • Health forms must be returned no later than 19th May.
  • While we are away we have a "Home Contact" - Carol Munro, the group treasurer. Her mobile number was sent out to each cub attending. please contact Carol if you need to get in touch with us. Likewise, if we have an emergency Carol will be in touch.
  • The bus will leave from Marr College playing fields (Dundonals Road) at 6pm on Friday evening returning there at approximately 6:30pm on Sunday evening. On the return journey we will stop at Arrochar and buy the boys a fish supper (if they're still awake).
  • There is a tuck shop and a vending machine in the canteen. If these are going to be used please ensure that you have loose change as there is nowhere to obtain change nearby.
